10 Years in the Neighbourhood

10 Years in the Neighbourhood

October 10th is the anniversary of my 10th year in Thailand. Today I am going to show you some little known parts of that neighbourhood and some better known places like Check-Inn bar and Wat Arun.

Unbreakable Bangkok | Love in the time of Covid

Unbreakable Bangkok | Love in the time of Covid

The business model has shifted for many whores to online work with a vengeance. Requests for help with some nebulous project or assistance are higher than ever. Poor people are more predatory than ever and you are the prey.
Cam sex is a business arrangement between two or more people but the game of Love has a different set of rules, at least for us westerners. Not so for those in need of cash, it’s just the “long con”. Are westerners more open to being girlfriend scammed or even catfished now that they cannot visit Thailand?

Bangkok Lives | Mia 2

Bangkok Lives | Mia 2

This is the second half of my really fascinating interview with Mia. She talks more about growing up different, her relationships with her family and previous boyfriends. Now she is a single girl.

Bangkok Lives | Mia

Bangkok Lives | Mia

Mia (Pronounced My-ah) is well educated and nobody’s fool. She has much more of interest to say than I could fit into even two videos. She is sweet and gentle and single!

Unbreakable Bangkok | The Expert

Unbreakable Bangkok | The Expert

This is perhaps the most personal video I have presented. The events mentioned, albeit obliquely, were deeply meaningful to me. Annie and I did not know each other well and we were thrown together and became highly visible. We survived, our relationship survived as you know but with such a start it could easily have gone completely wrong!

Ladyboy Tales from the Sharp End #2 Fon

Ladyboy Tales from the Sharp End #2 Fon

Welcome to Thailand
It is a beautiful country
Beautiful and dangerous
Like a Tiger
Weird shit happens here.
Foreign Men fall in love with hookers and lose their life savings
Thai men look like beautiful women and walk around like models.
The beaches are beautiful
Hotels, Thai food and taxis are cheap.
and sometimes so is Life.
Sex is easy to find but Love?
Love can be elusive.

Bangkok Lives|Minny

Bangkok Lives|Minny

Meet Minny, one of my favourite people.
Her English is not brilliant, she is a little shy but beautiful and trustworthy she is!
This girl is made of the right stuff. She is honest and reliable. She even visited me in hospital when I was sick and has helped me out numerous times. She is a really lovely ladyboy.
When the camera is not on her she is also a lot of fun.

Bangkok Lives | Anna

Bangkok Lives | Anna

Anna, whilst not strictly from Bangkok, has spent most of her life here. She is a well travelled girl, performer and a lovely host. I could not think of a better travel companion!
Anna is a very gentle and feminine ladyboy who has style and modesty. She was a little nervous during our chat but her English is excellent on the whole. Enjoy.

Bangkok Lives | Coco

Bangkok Lives | Coco

Coco is Bangkok born and bred and has some interesting insights into relationships and her working life in Mercury bar, Nana Plaza

Bangkok Lives|Tuhoo

Bangkok Lives|Tuhoo

Tuhoo is one of those girls that would make a perfect girlfriend. she is caring, unassuming and I think loyal. She loves cooking and her little room is spotless. This speaks volumes to me. Now, I’m not you of course and you may set store by different attributes. One of the pictures here shows Tuhoo without make-up. In my opinion it’s the best picture she has but when I told her that she immediately said that she was “not look good no make-up”! What do you think? FacebookTuhoo Pairoj Khanchalee

Ghosts & Gods of Rachaprasong

Ghosts & Gods of Rachaprasong

At a critical juncture or turning point. The place where two roads intersect has had special significance from ancient times. Some tribes used a crossroads as a place for religious sacrifices, and hence they came to be associated with execution. In Christian times, criminals and those who died by their own hand often were buried at a crossroads (since they could not be buried in consecrated ground). Crossroads also were a favorite spot for ambushes, highway robbery, and other nefarious deeds. The phrase “dirty work at the crossroads” crops up throughout the nineteenth century, as well as in a spate of twentieth-century murder mysteries. The idea of a figurative crossroads, a point of having to decide which road to take, is also very old. Erasmus quotes a fragment from the Greek poet Theognis’s Elegies, dating from about 600 b.c., translated as “I stand at the crossroads.”

Bangkok Lives | Aemmy

Bangkok Lives | Aemmy

Aemmy is one of those ladyboys who I would not usually interview. At the Real Ladyboy show you see lots of ladyboys but the truth is I meet and know many more than ever make it to interview.
I am not her to criticise but to educate. Aemmy has been in Bangkok for longer than me. She has survived and in fact flourished as a very popular ladyboy dancer for a lot of years. I met her first before I ever knew Annie and spent some time with her. She has a lot of obvious qualities.
Aemmy is very typical of 50% of Thai ladyboys, in my opinion. She likes to speak about herself in the third person as many do and has absolutely zero self-awareness.

Bangkok Lives | Monica

Bangkok Lives | Monica

Monica is perhaps the sweetest natured ladyboy I have met. she is very feminine and caring. Pretty amazing that she has no boyfriend at present but I guess Bangkok is a very competitive market!

Unbreakable Bangkok | The Ladyboy Olympics

Unbreakable Bangkok | The Ladyboy Olympics

Be very careful what you wish for . . . . . or why are genetic women disqualified from performance by the IAAF if they have more than
5 nanmoles of testosterone per litre of blood but transwomen are allowed up to 10 nanamoles . . . . . .does it make sense to anyone?
How can a fair assessment be made by World athletics organisations that allows transwomen to compete but does not harm women athletes?
Should there be a distinct class for transpeople or a handicapping system?

Bangkok Lives | Mo

Bangkok Lives | Mo

I really believe that 99% of people who may have any kind of prejudice are able to change their minds given time and meeting or listening to positive people from the group they not feel warmly towards. I have seen this first hand. Shouting, protesting and demanding just pushes people away and that’s why the west is so divided on many counts. Tolerance and acceptance takes time. As far as Mo is concerned; who could possibly have an issue with her?

Unbreakable Bangkok | The Missing Squid | Part Two

Unbreakable Bangkok | The Missing Squid | Part Two

Hookers and Ladyboys are one thing, well, two things, sometimes but to stay happy in Thailand one has to adopt a certain attitude and not succumb to disdain. Here’s what to expect and how to negotiate the missing squid and other atrocities!
